The Belfast Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Belfast Boathouse. This popular event features a wide assortment of Maine-grown annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables.

As you head into your garden this spring, please keep in mind that the club relies on area gardeners for contributions of perennials. Members will be happy to come and dig plants from your garden, and will provide replacement soil. The club also welcomes garden tools, books and other items for its popular Gardener-to-Gardener area.

As always, the sale will offer bountiful donations from generous local nurseries, who provide a variety of annuals, perennials and shrubs.

Donations help keep Belfast beautiful, as the nonprofit club uses proceeds to maintain 12 public gardens and award two annual scholarships to Waldo County students studying earth-friendly fields.

To donate, call sale coordinator Bonnie Irwin at 703-9057 or email her at bonnie.m.irwin@gmail.com. Learn more about the club at BelfastGardenClub.org or visit Facebook.
