Maine Audubon will conduct an introductory Stream Smart workshop at the University Maine Hutchinson Center Friday, April 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This workshop will be helpful to professionals who are responsible for road-stream crossings, including contractors, road commissioners, public works departments, conservation commissions, engineers, planners, land trusts, watershed groups, and private landowners.

Participants will also receive recertification credit for the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, Voluntary Contractor Certification Program.

Applying Stream Smart principles to road crossings can help connect and maintain fish and wildlife habitat while protecting roads and public safety. Stream Smart crossings can also help you prepare for the large and frequent storm events that have been washing out roads around the state and the northeast.
