Runs were far from at a premium for the Searsport baseball and softball teams on Friday, April 20 as the Vikings hit the road for games against Temple Academy to begin regular-season play.

On school vacation-week, the Waldo County high school diamond squads combined for a whopping 31 runs — which, ultimately, resulted in two wins — in lopsided decisions over the Bereans.

The Viking baseball team — the three-time defending state Class D champions — bested the Bereans 17-3, while the Viking softball squad also swung to a 14-3 victory.
