After season-opening high school tennis wins over Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield on April 12, the Lions of Belfast were back on the courts on Monday, April 23 against fellow Midcoast opponents Oceanside of Rockland.

Belfast picked up their second victories of the spring campaigns as the girls won 3-2 on the road and the boys blanked the Mariners 5-0 at home.

Girls

Belfast 3, Oceanside 2

At Rockland April 23, the Lions squeaked by the Mariners in back-and-fourth matches.

The individual results, with Belfast players listed first, were: In singles, Julia Cerone lost to Gabby Simmons, 2-6, 1-6; Samantha Hills beat Molly Davis, 6-4, 6-2; and Alexia Sweet lost to Cassidy Boynton, 4-6, 4-6.

In doubles, Kristina Walker and Starr Warner beat Erin Dugan and Molly Spencer, 6-4, 6-1; and Clarisse Stradtman and Olivia LaRoche beat Laura Boutin and Lindsey Brooks, 6-4, 6-2.

Boys

Belfast 5, Oceanside 0

At Belfast April 23, the hosts made short work of the visitors to move to 2-0 on the year.

The individual results, with Belfast players listed first, were: In singles, Eli Jolliffe beat Abe LeMole, 8-3; Rudi Schnetzer beat Carter Fogarty, 7-1; and Max Lewis beat Darik Johnson, 8-0.

In doubles, Josh Chun and Kyle Agbuya beat Josh Peaco and Elliot Spencer, 8-3; and Dyllan Clark and Sam Spectre beat Nick Upham and Noah Carlson, 8-2.
