The first of two anticipated regular-season meetings between Waldo County high school athletic rivals Belfast and Mount View of Thorndike did not include down-to-the-wire outcomes, like many of the Lions-Mustang meetings in various sports over the years.

This time, on a wet, rainy Friday afternoon, April 27, the Lions came out swinging — quite literally — in both contests, and piled up runs in the process, as Belfast baseball won 11-1 in six innings and softball picked up the 13-1 victory in five innings.
