Former Belfast Poet Laureate Ellen Sander will join Jefferson Navicky in a reading Saturday, May 5, at 4 p.m. at Gulf of Maine Books, 134 Maine St.

Sander, who lives in Belfast, will be reading from her new collection of poems, “Hawthorne – A House in Bolinas.” Among many things, Sander has been a rock journalist, an editor and a teacher in Beijing. Her new collection of poems centers on the poetry town of Bolinas, Calif., where she lived in the 1970s.

Navicky will be reading from his new collection of short stories, “The Paper Coast.” Navicky, who lives in Freeport, is the archivist at the Maine Women Writers Collection in Portland. He teaches English at Southern Maine Community College.
