Belfast Maskers theater company has finalized the cast for its 2018 summer musical, Meredith Willson’s "The Music Man."

Based on a story by Willson and Franklin Lacey, "The Music Man" tells the of con man Harold Hill, who poses as a kids’ band organizer and leader and sells band instruments and uniforms to 1912 Midwestern townsfolk, promising to train the members of the new band.

While Harold makes plans to skip town as soon as the sales are final, prim librarian and piano teacher Marian sees through him. But as the story unfolds, Harold, who is not a bandleader or teacher, helps individual townspeople in his quirky way — including the bickering local school board and Marian’s younger brother. The tide, and Marian’s heart, begin to turn his way as Harold risks being caught to win her.

The cast includes Eric Sanders as Harold Hill, Maggie Machaiek as Marian, Chip Curry as Mayor George Shinn, Chris Goosman as Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn, Mark Durbin as Marcellus Washburn, Gabrielle Schachtner as Zaneeta Shinn, Carlton Smith as Mrs. Paroo, Taylor Kinney as Tommy Dijalas, Gemma Bradney as Amaryllis and Kai Kutsy-Durbin as Winthrop.

Dozens of townspeople of all ages, salesmen, school board members, and pick-a-little ladies round out this strong musical ensemble.

The play is directed by Michael Switzer, with music direction by John Cameron. Performances will be held at the Crosby Center on Church Street in Belfast July 19 to 29. Stage hands and stage tech volunteers are encouraged to contact the Maskers for information about joining the crew.
