Searsport track-and-field students felt a bit like college athletes on Wednesday, May 16 when they participated in a regular-season meet at the University of Maine. The meet was hosted by Orono High School.
The girls team scores were: Orono 204, Hampden Academy 193, John Bapst of Bangor 78, Bangor Christian 24, Penquis Valley 24, Dexter 22, Washington Academy of East Machias 18, Hermon 8 and Searsport 1.
The boys team scores were: Hermon 152, Hampden Academy 121, John Bapst 101, Orono 85.5, Washington Academy 62, Bangor Christian 37, Dexter 11.5, Penquis Valley and Searsport 6.
The Viking girls individual results were:
100 meters — 17, Hailey Wood, 15.17.
400 meters — 6, Hailey Wood, 1:07.97.
Long jump — 19, Hailey Wood, 12-02.5.
Javelin — 10, Zoe Perkins, 55-8.
Discus — 13, Lauren Burkhard, 54-1; and 17, Shannen Fitzjurls, 46-7.
The Viking boys individual results were:
110-meter hurdles — 4, Daniel McKeon, 18.92.
100 meters — 11, Malcolm Jones, 12.71; 25, Devin Fairbrother, 13.22; 42, David Estes, 13.87; 47, Daniel McKeon, 14.21; and 48, Steven Courtney, 14.24.
300-meter hurdles — 7, Daniel McKeon, 50.99.
Triple jump — 5, Malcolm Jones, 38-6.25.
Javelin — 6, Gabe Poulin, 105-1; and 29, Riley Colby, 79-10.
