The recent early-season play continued hot and heavy at the Northport Golf Club.

On Sunday, May 27, in a member-member event, for women, Phyllis Gaul and Myndee Gilmore finished first at 62; Roxie Whitney and Jean Brown, second at 68; and Sue Gordon and Brenda Barrett, third at 70.

For men, Alex Carroll and Jake Thompson finished first at 62; Alan Blood and Steve Stanford, second at 62; Paul Doody and Brian Beaulieu, third at 63; Dave Riley and Tom Cameron, along with Mike Knox and Cecil Eastman, and Peter Hodgkins and Scott Benzie, tied for fourth at 64; and Terry Whitney and Phil Bowen, as well as Larry Quinn and Terry Fancy, and Peter Doran and John McKay, tied for seventh at 65.

On Wednesday, May 23, in scotch foursome play, Jeff Dutch and Elaine Bielenberg finished first gross 38; Larry Quinn and Phyllis Gaul, first net 28; Slim Peaslee and Barb Peaslee, second net 29; and Paul Jasienowski and Cindy Van Etten, third net 31.

On Tuesday, May 22, in twilight league play, in Class A, Charlie Pray finished first gross 36; Jesse Johnson, second gross 38; Preston Ward, third gross 40; Jeff Dutch, Kevin Nickerson and Chris Tibbetts, tied for fourth gross 42; Frank Field, Harvey Peterson and Terry Whitney, tied for first net 34; and Paul Doody and Greg McDaniel, tied for fourth net 35.

The pin winners were: Jesse Johnson, 7-6 on the third hole; and Preston Ward, 15-6 on the ninth.

In Class B, Duke Marston and Slim Peaslee tied for first gross 43; Tony Field, third gross 48; Cecil Eastman, fourth gross 49; Brian Beaulieu, first net 30; Bill Farris, second net 34; Chip Curry, third net 36; and Jim Boulier and Greg Dutch, tied for fourth net 37.

The pin winners were: Duke Marston, 12-1 on the third; and Bill Farris, 9-6 on the ninth.
