Hal O. Wight, 82, died Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the home of his son, on the property that Hal was born and raised on and has lived on all his life.

He was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Belfast, the son of Roy and Ella (Cobb) Wight. He was a gentleman farmer all his life and worked as a longshoreman on the docks in Searsport.

In his earlier years Hal enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and working on old tractors and cars. He was known throughout his family and friends for his vast mechanical ability. His family was very special to him, especially his granddaughters Kayla and Jordan, who he saw every day.

He is survived by one son Roy N. Wight and his wife Danielle; one daughter Shoune Small and her husband Anthony; his grandchildren: Kayla Wight, Jordan Wight, Adrienne Small and Jenna Small; brothers: Nelson Wight and his wife Ola, and Richard Wight; sisters: Eleanor Hansen and Eloise Betters.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Stewart Wight and Tom Wight and sister Ruth Hardy.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at South Belfast Cemetery on Woods Road in Belfast. Arrangements are under the direction of Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Searsport, online at mitchelltweedie-young.com.
