The Palermo Community Library and the Palermo Historical Society will co-host a presentation by author and railroad historian Joey Kelley Thursday, June 21, at 7 p.m. at the library, 2789 Route 3.

Kelley will take attendees on a ride through the 150-year history of the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad, the only railroad in the state of Maine operating under its original name. Chartered in 1867, the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad has survived two world wars, the construction of highways and the collapse of the poultry industry in Waldo County. It survives today as a tourist railroad and historic relic of days gone by.

The presentation is free. Copies of Kelley’s book, “The Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad,” will be available for sale. For more information call 993-6088 or email or visit
