It was once said that only Nixon could go to China. And now, it is clear that only Trump can make America great again.

Talk of being in the right place at the right time. Had the 2016 election gone the other way, our American way of life would be doomed. Left-wing progressives would control government and in effect, our very lives. But that didn’t happen and now we stand at the beginning of a rebirth of our nation.

President Trump has accomplished much in his short time in office. And Democrats despise him for it. In fact, the Democratic party has become its own worst enemy, mostly because of their venomous hatred of everything Trump. No matter what President Trump does or says, the left is against it.

This reminds me of the old story of the immigrant who stepped off the boat in America and asked the first person he met if this country has a government. The person said yes and the immigrant then said, “Well, I’m agin’ it.” The Democrat party has become that immigrant and no matter what the current administration does, they are “agin'” it.

But there’s more to this Trump hatred than meets the eye. Donald Trump serves as the vehicle that we who voted for him use to right eight years of wrongs. So in their blind rage against the president, the left are in fact turning on the American voter, a bad move if only they were sharp enough to realize it. By demeaning Trump they are demeaning us.

More to their detriment, the left, or progressive wing of the Democrat party, has only one agenda and that is to condemn and smear the president and his administration. Their near-fanatical goal is to drive the president out through impeachment. But no impeachment process is forthcoming because the left has no certifiable proof of wrongdoing. And still they persist in their Quixotic quest.

With the left, it’s no longer about reality. When House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi calls Republican tax cuts “crumbs,” or denies the positive effects of a booming economy, it’s plain that the Democratic party has lost touch with not only reality but also a large number of its constituents. Not all Democrats share the same vitriolic hatred of the current administration, but with leaders such as Pelosi, their voices are quashed.

And that bodes well for Republicans in the November elections. What Democrats fail to realize is that the same people who voted for Trump last time will vote for him next time. Instead of losing popularity, President Trump’s approval numbers continue to rise. What’s more, even some who voted Democrat last time around may be dissuaded from voting the same way again because their lives are so much better now than under the Obama administration.

In addition to being reviled for their beliefs, conservatives now face something even harder to accept, and that is condescension. Here’s a tip for self-righteous progressives: If you want to seem at all credible, stop using condescending rhetoric.

For most of us, condescension acts as a mordant, fixing our minds solidly upon our conservative principles. Want to inspire people to change their minds? Then don’t talk down to them. Doing so only makes things worse. Call me names. Tell me I’m wrong. But don’t ever talk down to me.

So because of the result of the 2016 election, progressive hopes for a socialist utopia are dashed. And they are dashed against a big, unyielding rock named Donald Trump. This president has stimulated the American economy, bolstered the military and put God back in the public eye. With that going for us, who can be against us?

Donald Trump is personally responsible for bringing a significant number of Americans home, Americans who, under the past administration, would even now continue to rot in foreign prisons. Of course President Obama did bring someone home and that was Beau Bergdahl, a traitor. President Trump, on the other hand, has repatriated heroes. There’s a big difference there.

It’s for sure that progressive Democrats will scoff at the following, but that’s their problem. Here are just some of President Trump’s accomplishments to date:

Consumer confidence is at a 17-year high. American families received $3.2 trillion in gross tax cuts and saw the child tax credit double. President Trump has rolled back unnecessary job-killing regulations beyond expectations. In 2017, President Trump far exceeded his promise to eliminate regulations at a two-to-one ratio, issuing 22 deregulatory actions for every new regulatory action. The Trump Administration rolled back rules and regulations harming farmers and energy producers such as the Waters of the United States Rule and the Clean Power Plan. Regional and community banks and credit unions got relief after President Trump signed legislation reducing harmful requirements imposed by the Dodd-Frank Act. President Trump kept his promise to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. President Trump ended United States participation in the ill-conceived Iran deal and has begun the process of re-imposing sanctions that were either lifted or waived.

And on and on it goes. There isn’t sufficient room in this column to list all that our president has accomplished in his short time in office. And because of these promises kept, Americans have come back from the precipice of disaster. Now we have hope, not hope deferred as with the last administration, but real hope.

So let the Nancy Pelosi's and Chuck Schumers continue to condescend, demean and criticize. In doing so they only strengthen conservative resolve. Welcome back, America. And thanks to President Trump.
