Since 2011, “Summer Run for Fun” has been a staple for Midcoast runners of all ages.

Whether a seasoned runner or beginner, there again will be a weekly cross-country challenge at Medomak Valley High School.

“If one wants a mid-week speed workout or just a casual trail run, this is the series to get that,” said George Gould, longtime program organizer and Panther cross-country and track-and-field coach.

Participants will gather for weekly runs with the option of completing one, two or three miles.

The program, held at 6 p.m., will take off on the following Wednesdays: June 20, 27, July 4, 11, 18, 25 and Aug. 1 and Aug. 8.

The fee is $15 for the entire eight-week program, and will be on the Neil W. Lash Nature Trail, as participants meet at the high school track.

The trail course has become one of the state’s best as it weaves in and out of the forested area behind the middle and high schools.
