Winterport residents  approved 39 articles in approximately 40 minutes June 15 at their annual town meeting.

According to Town Clerk Sidney Eckhert, there were 34 townspeople in attendance and everything "went smoothly."

Corey Ginn was elected to Town Council with 652 votes, while Joseph Brooks was elected town assessor with 629 votes.

Scott Cuddy and Mary Anne Royal were elected to the School Board with 520 and 314 votes, respectively, and voters approved the Regional School Unit 22 budget, 502 to 245. 

Article 3 related to changing the debt limit of the Winterport Water District from $1.2 million to $3.5 million. Residents rejected the article by a vote of 475 opposed to 275 in favor.

Tax bills will go out July 27. The first half will be due Sept. 15, and the second half on March 16, 2019. The interest rate charged for unpaid taxes after said dates will be 7 percent.

The biggest-ticket items had to do with town roads. Voters approved a winter roads article for $352,501, a road maintenance article for $138,403 and a road paving and road reconstruction article for $395,000.

The town also approved $196,153 for solid waste disposal.
