In celebration of the summer solstice and the longest day of the year, the Friends of Sears Island welcomed in the new season June 21 with their second annual Solstice by the Sea event.
With food and ice cream provided by the YumBus food truck and Wild Cow Creamery, and entertainment in the form of music, chalk drawings, poetry readings, and a brief history of the solstice, the event served as a place for families and friends to come together and enjoy a beautiful evening on Sears Island.
A festive procession complete with paper lanterns and streamers was led by the children down the causeway, bringing the celebration to a close as the sun began to set.
