She worked in a variety of mediums from welded steel to watercolor painting. In 1983, Sandra received the Bernard Langlais Memorial Scholarship to the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan.

Sandra and her husband Chip enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to spend time in many countries including Russia, Bulgaria, India and Japan as well as many others. Sandra was a lifelong advocate for social justice and women's rights.

Sandra is survived by her daughter Robin; her three grandchildren Elizabeth, Jeffrey and Megan; three great-grandchildren Lance, Bristol and London; brother Don; and sister Jackie.
