Stockton Harbor Sailing Center kicked off its annual, week-long Get on the Water event July 2.
Over the last 10 years, the event has worked to teach children about topics ranging from sailing and kayaking to water safety and swimming, along with environmental science activities and crafts, all with the goal of getting a new generation comfortable out on Maine coastal waters.
With the help of local volunteers, the nonprofit to date has been able to accept any and all children into its programs free of charge through the donations and support of the local community.
Along with its other high school sailing programs and Women on the Water, the Stockton Harbor Sailing Center has been hard at work getting people of all ages outside, on the water, and enjoying our maritime community.
