The Midcoast Junior Legion baseball team is in the midst of a four-game win streak after a pair of victories over the Bangor Cadets and Penquis.

Midcoast, which will conclude its regular season on Wednesday, July 18 with a doubleheader against Quirk Motor City at 5 and 7:30 p.m. at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, is 10-5 and fifth in the 11-team region.

The playoffs are slated for Saturday and Sunday, July 21-22 at Colby College in Waterville.

The standings as of Monday, July 16 included: Hartt Riverjacks 15-1, Quirk Motor City 13-2, Fairfield Post #14 11-3, Skowhegan Post #16 10-4, Midcoast 10-5, Bangor Cadets 9-9, Messalonskee 8-8, Acadians Post #207 5-10, Penquis 2-11, Hartt Longhaulers 1-13 and Machias Post #9 1-12.

Team members for Midcoast include Brandon Cournoyer, Cody Reynolds, Jason Bartlett, Eamon Goscinski, Quincy Mosher, Jon Duso, Luke Hamlin, Aiden Schecter, Sam Moody, Dakota Payson, Sam Davis, Theo Dodge, Patrick McConnell, Liam McConnell, Neil Kenney, True Crane, Sam Conlan and Jason Greenleaf. The team is managed by Scott Cournoyer and coached by Chris Lavalle, Tim Moody, Penson Bartlett and Kurt Payson.

The following is a recap of Midcoast's most recent two contests:

Midcoast 3, Bangor Cadets 1

At Belfast July 15, Midcoast plated runs in the first, fourth and fifth frames and prevailed over the Cadets. The visitors’ lone run came in the seventh inning.

Leading Midcoast at the plate were Crane (single), Hamlin (2 singles, run, stolen base), Bartlett (double, run), Payson (2 singles, 2 stolen bases), Kenney (single, stolen base) and Cournoyer (single, run, stolen base).

For the Cadets, Bradley McGlaughlin (single, run) and Isaac Bushway (single) paced the offense.

Crane and Bartlett pitched for Midcoast, as the two allowed two hits and six walks, with 10 strikeouts. Kevin Fish pitched for the Bangor Cadets, allowing eight hits and one walk, with three strikeouts.

Midcoast 5, Penquis 4

At Bangor July 10, Midcoast broke a 4-4 tie with a run in the seventh inning and bested host Penquis. Midcoast also scored one in the second and three more in the third, while Penquis scored one in the first, two in the second and one in the third.

Leading Midcoast at the plate were Cournoyer (single, stolen base), Bartlett (double), Payson (double, run), Kenney (2 singles, 2 runs, 2 stolen bases), Moody (single, stolen base), McConnell (double, 2 singles, 2 runs, 2 stolen bases), Conlan (single) and Duso (single).

For Penquis, Logan Martin (2 singles, run, 2 stolen bases), Doug Kane (single, run, stolen base), Noah Lamb (single), Anthony Smith (2 singles), Austin Seaves (run), Gage Stone (run), Luke Stedman (single) and Chase Higgins (single) paced the offense.

Cournoyer and Schecter pitched for Midcoast, as the duo allowed eight hits and four walks, with nine strikeouts. Colby Chadwick and Kane pitched for Penquis, as the teammates allowed 11 hits and two walks, with two strikeouts.
