The following is recent news from the Searsport Pines Golf Club:

On Sunday, Aug. 12, Bobby Seekins, a member at the course, had a hole-in-one playing in the club championships. He aced the 175-yard, par-3 sixth hole as he used a 6-iron and Titleist ProV1X golf ball. Seekins' playing partners were  Josh Ramsey and Bruce Mills, who witnessed the ace. It was Seekins' second ace at Searsport Pines. His first came on May 28, 2007 on the ninth hole.

On Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11-12, the annual club championships were held, as members competed in two 18-hole rounds.

The "A" Division title went to Keith Lebeau, who finished with a combined score of 164 for the two days. Milton Florest captured the "B" Division title with a score of 175. Bruce Mills was the senior champion at 183.

Pin winners for Aug. 11 were: Milton Florest, 14-1.5 on the sixth; Matt Damon, 16-7 on the ninth; Keith Lebeau, 30-4 on the 15th; and Curtis Dow, 27-11 on the 18th.

Pin winners were Aug. 12 were: Bob Seekins, hole in one on the sixth; Roger Moreau, 8-5 on the ninth; Jeff Heroux, 5-6 on the 15th; and Bob Seekins, 19-10 on the 18th.

The Monday afternoon league play continues to heat up among the two-golfer teams. On Thursday afternoons, golfers also gather for the Tozier's Family Market Scramble, rain or shine. All participants are welcome.

Tuesdays throughout the season feature the special golf deal of $20 per person for nine holes, with a cart, or $30 per person for 18 holes, with cart.
