Medomak Valley, Oceanside and Islesboro high school cross-country student-athletes officially started their seasons on Friday, Aug. 31 as the Panthers hosted those schools, along with Brunswick, Morse of Bath and Boothbay Region.

Brunswick's Will Shaughnessy blistered the 3.1-mile trail course in 16:47 to win the 40-runner boys race, while Boothbay's Faith Blethen prevailed in the 28-runner girls race in 20:46.

The course records records are held by Lincoln Academy's Sam Russ in 16:24.06 for boys set on Sept. 15, 2017 and Camden Hills' Grace Iltis in 19:09.53 for girls set the same day.

On Friday, the boys team scores were: Brunswick 18, Morse 47, Boothbay Region 75 and Medomak Valley, Oceanside and Islesboro no score. The girls team scores were: Brunswick 32, Medomak Valley 41, Morse 51 and Boothba Region no score.

The individual results for the Medomak Valley, Oceanside and Islesboro boys were: 20, Connor Daigle, Med, 21:15; 21, Acer Van Dis, Isles, 21:19; 22, Mitiku Yeatts, Isles, 21:38; 26, Keegan Fitzgerald, Ocean, 22:06; 32, James Rose, Med, 23:41; 34, Ryan Lynch, Ocean, 25:38; 35, Alex Mahar, Ocean, 26:32; and 40, Edwin Stone, Med, 28:09.

The individual results for Medomak Valley girls were: 3, Serena Blasius, 22:14; 8, MacKenzie Emerson, 23:40; 11, Alexis Parent, 24:18; 14, Emily Mahoney, 25:43; 15, Jayla Robinson, 25:51; 18, Aiden Pike, 28:27; 20, Reese Hesseltine, 28:37; 22, Elizabeth Bowman, 31:47; 23, Molly Jennings, 32:23; 24, Morgan Flanders, 32:31; and 5, Genevieve Timlar, 33:06.
