The following is recent news from the Country View Golf Club:

On Thursday, Sept. 6, in the women's weekly league scramble, first went to the team of Bobbie Grotten, Doris Cowell, Judy Arsenault and Joette Fields with a 33, while second went to Henna Smith, Sharon Todd, Jean Raven and Donna Nason.

Pin winners were: Doris Cowell, 24-6 on the fourth hole; and Donna Nason, 14-9 on the ninth.

The weekly scramble is open to all, including new players, at 9 a.m. on Thursdays.

On Friday, Sept. 7, in men's league play (scoring based on modified Stableford handicapping format), first went to Ted McDonald with +5; Wayne Merrifield, second at +3; third was a tie between Bob Hooper and Vince Bryant at +2; and fifth was +1 by Mike Cunningham.

Pin winners were: Bob Hooper, 16-3 on the fourth; and Mike Cunningham, 12-4 on the ninth.

New players are welcomed to join the weekly men's play on Fridays.

On Saturday, Sept. 8, in the annual club tournament, first for the men was the team of Robert Brown, Leanne York, Bryce Rood and Trevor Woods. Second went to the foursome of Mark King, Ross DeLorenzo, Jeff Larrabee and Dave Thompson and third was the group of Ed Nason, Tom Bureau, Chris Steiner and Ken Rose.

The winning women's team was comprised of Shirley Caler, Jenna Caler, Barbara Peasley and Annie Pickford.

The longest drives came from Tom Bureau (men) and Jenna Caler (women).

Pin winners for hole 4/13 were: Greg Damboise, 7-0; and Donna Short, 14-5.

Pin winners for hole 9/18 were: Ross DeLorenzo, 2-5; and Joette Fields, 9-8.

The putting contest winner was Gary Snowden.
