When fire crews arrived at 556 Stream Road (Route 139) at approximately 11:55 a.m. Sept. 13, the home was ablaze.

According to Monroe Fire Chief Ken Clements, the house was fully engulfed, with flames shooting through the roof. There were also flames coming through the electrical entrance — where the electric power enters the house — with lots of sparks.

Althea and Tom Grover, owners of the home, reported the fire. According to the Grovers, they have lived in the house for 14 years. The couple stood outside as crews battled the flames.

Clements said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The Maine Fire Marshal's Office has been contacted to investigate.

No injuries were reported, but the house was a total loss.

Crews from Monroe, Winterport and West Frankfort responded, as well as a crew from Central Maine Power Co.
