The Rockland Golf Course proved the mecca, of sorts, of high school play on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 12 as four of the five Midcoast squads were on those links to compete against one another shot for shot and hole to hole.

In the end, the two host teams — from Knox and Lincoln counties — outdistanced their Waldo County counterparts in regular-season matches.

Medomak Valley of Waldoboro beat Mount View of Thorndike 8.5-0.5, while Oceanside of Rockland bested Belfast 6.5 to 2.5.

Thus far this season, Oceanside is 5-4, Belfast and Medomak Valley 4-4 and Mount View 0-7.

Medomak Valley 8.5, Mount View 0.5.

At Rockland Sept. 12, the Panthers clawed to the victory, as the hosts finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 206 to 263 for the Mustangs.

The individual results, with Medomak Valley golfers listed first, were: Carson Murphy (46) beat Miles Littlefield (71), 5+4; Sean Sebrey (51) beat John Clifford (64), 2+1; Leighton Winslow (50) beat Josh Campbell (60), 3+2; Merritt Gould (63) beat Shawn VonOesen (82), 5+3. Garret Hutchins (59) beat Caleb Raven (88), 5+4; Trystan Francis (64) halved with Orla Foley (68).

In exhibition matches, Adam Berry (61) beat Niamh Foley (83), 4+2; and Matthew Sirois (60) beat Chase Roberts (65), 2-up.

Murphy shot 46 to finish as medalist. The Panther has been medalist several times this season.

Oceanside 6.5, Belfast 2.5

At Rockland Sept. 12, the Mariners played a competitive match with the Lions, and prevailed with a four-golfer stroke total of 205 to 218 for Belfast.

The individual results, with Oceanside golfers listed first, were: Austin Chilles(48) lost to Tommy Walker (52), 4+2; Teddy Hallett (58) beat Ryan Fitzjuris (66), 3+2; Darik Johnson (53) lost to Chance Clark (56), 1-down; Carter Fogarty (50) beat Anthime Brunette (71), 4+2; Aidan Andrews (54) beat Daniel Groening (66) 4+3; and Mason Curtis (61) halved with Hunter Treat (64).

Chilles shot 48 to finish as medalist. He has been medalist a handful of times this fall.
