Fire destroys home

Three families, including several children and a baby, lost their home and all their belongings in the blaze. Clothing and toy donations are being accepted at the Freedom Town Office (71 Pleasant St.), 382-6178; The Aquarian Gift Shop (139 Searsport Ave., Belfast), 218-1036; and Sun Tan City (138 Main St., Belfast), 338-3357.

Clothing sought for the families include garments for an 11-year-old boy, a 9-year-old girl, 5-year-old twin boys, a 2-year-old girl and a premature baby girl; women's sizes 1/2 and 4/6 pants and medium shirts; and men's size 32-32 pants, and shirt and jacket sizes medium to large.

Erna Keller’s mother and aunt lost their home and everything in it a few months ago due to a fire. And now it is Erna and Kevin’s two sons and their families whose home burned down. No one was hurt; they all got out safely. The fire started at 3 a.m.

Please find it in your heart to help in whatever way you can.

Freedom Rec. Committee

The Freedom Rec. Committee is in the process of planning events, which include a Halloween Party in October, Veterans Day service in November, Christmas Craft Fair in December and Easter Egg Hunt in the spring. Once I have all the information, I will publicize it, so keep on the lookout for it.

Remember to support the Freedom Rec. Committee, because the purpose of the group is to provide recreational opportunities for people of the town of Freedom and surrounding communities. All of our events are free and we love to make children happy and to enjoy all our events listed above.

Crafting, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, etc.

Every Tuesday, the S & B Girls will be meeting at the Town Office starting at 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. We do all kinds of crocheting, knitting, stitching and crafts. Anyone can come on down and join us, learn how to do what is of interest to you and join in the fun. Every week books are available for your taking to choose from for patterns and instructions of anything you may want to do. The books are donated and they are yours for the taking. (Free.)

Please make sure you put a garbage sticker, which cost $1.50 each, on each garbage bag that you put out to be collected. If there isn’t any sticker on the bag, the garbage will not be picked up.
