Congratulations to Chief Richard LaHaye Jr. of the Searsport Police. Chief LaHaye has been elected president of the Maine Chiefs of Police Association for the 2018-2019 year. In October Chief LaHaye will represent the Maine Chiefs of Police at a conference in Orlando, Florida, which will be attended by police chiefs from around the world.

He will also be going to Blue Mass, to a religious ceremony that honors fallen officers, and he might be asked to testify about law enforcement bills in the state Legislature. Chief LaHaye lives in Morrill in the old Professor Simmons farm.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Raymond Cross who passed away on Sept. 2.

Glad to report that Paula Roberts is out of the hospital and is home resting and doing good.

On Oct. 14 at 10 a.m., Searsmont Fire Department will be having an open house and chicken barbecue. They would like everyone to come see the new Fire Station and they will be having a chicken barbecue starting around noon for a fee of $10. Their address is 1 Pond Road, Searsmont.

How is everyone liking this weather? First you're so hot you have your air conditioner on and then you're so cold you need to put on layers of clothes. I guess winter is on its way.

Everyone have a really great week!
