Strong performances from Camden Hills and Belfast high school cross-country runners again were the norm as the Windjammers and Lions participated in the Cony homecoming meet on Friday, Sept. 21.

Among the large Midcoast contingent at the meet were the talented Windjammer girls, who, even without a few of their top runners, easily won their race. Unbeaten Camden Hills is the defending league, regional and state champion.

Edward Little’s Jillian Richardson won the 84-finisher girls race in 19:37.97, while Wyatt Lord of Hampden Academy finished first in the 120-finisher boys race in 17:56.13.

For Midcoast runners, Windjammer Miranda Dunton led the way in third in the girls race, while Lion Eamon Goscinski was 10th in the boys race.

The girls team scores were: Camden Hills 36, Cony 87, Marancook of Readfield 101, Bangor 113, Edward Little of Auburn 157, Hampden Academy 163, Winslow 168, Waterville 176, Belfast  211 and Erskine Academy of South China 243.

The boys team scores were: Hampden Academy 27, Bangor 51, Cony 112, Maranacook 130, Erskine Academy 132, Belfast 149, Edward Little 160, Camden Hills 171 and Winslow 270.
