Mount View soccer teams enjoyed topnotch days, while the Searsport boys were dealt a loss in high school games played on Thursday, Sept. 27.

The high-flying, unbeaten Mustang boys booted to an 8-0 win, while the girls won 4-1 in games against Nokomis of Newport. The Viking boys also were dealt a 4-0 loss to George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill.

Boys soccer

Mount View 8, Nokomis 0

At Thorndike Sept. 27, the Mustangs remained unbeaten with a shutout win over the Warriors. Mount View led 5-0 at halftime.

Leading the Mustang scoring attack were Andrew Savoy (2 goals), Elijah Allen (3 goals), Cassidy Pound (2 goals, assist), Logan Curtis (goal, 2 assists), Noah Jacobs (assist), Matt Overlock (assist) and Darrett Fowler (assist)

Ricky Nelson made four saves on eight shots in net for Mount View, while Ashton Caron made 23 saves on 48 shots in goal for Nokomis. The hosts held an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Mount View (8-0, 52.3469 points) is second, while Caribou (5-1-1, 55.9439 points) is first in the 21-team region. The top 14 teams qualify for the playoffs.

George Stevens Academy 4, Searsport 0

At Blue Hill Sept. 27, the Eagles flew past the Vikings.

George Dakin minded the net and made 11 saves on 15 shots for Searsport, while Jed Sawyer made two saves on two shots in goal for GSA.

Ethan Vinall, Chris Bennett, Adrian Marsh and Ricardo Sanchez scored for the hosts.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Class D South, Searsport (4-5, 6.5584 points) is 10th, while North Yarmouth Academy (8-1, 49.6939 points) is first in the 14-team region. The top 10 teams qualify for the playoffs.

Girls soccer

Mount View 4, Nokomis 1

At Newport Sept. 27, the Mustangs galloped past the host Warriors. Mount View led 2-0 at halftime.

Sage Pound netted a pair of second-half goals to lead the Mount View offense, while Gabby Allen (goal), Gabby Ravin (goal), Ari Allen (assist) and Abbi Downer (assist) also contributed to the Mustang offense.

Meagan Whitten tallied the lone goal for Nokomis.

Zoe Mayhew made two saves on five shots in net for the ‘Stangs, while Jordan Condon made seven saves on 15 shots in goal for the Warriors.

“After big back-to-back matchups against Brewer and Winslow, this had the potential to be a big letdown game,” said Mount View coach David Page. “And it started out that way. We came out really flat in the first half and still a bit into the second. But we dug in and were able to put the game away late. Sometimes you have to win ugly and today we did just that.”

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Mount View (5-3, 27.1429 points) is seventh, while Medomak Valley of Waldoboro (5-2-3, 47.9337 points) is first in the 21-team region. The top 14 teams qualify for the playoffs.
