Town Office

The Searsmont Fire Department is hosting an open house at the new Searsmont Fire House on Sunday, Oct. 14. Fire house tours and other activities are being planned to start at 10 a.m., along with a chicken barbecue at around noon; a tasty treat at $10 per plate for chicken, chips, a roll, and a brownie. Hope you all come.

The next rabies clinic sponsored by the Waldo County Humane Society is on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Brooks Fire Department.

Absentee ballots will be available soon for the Nov. 6 election.  You can submit an absentee ballot request now, and a ballot will be sent to you by mail.  You may fill out the request at the Town Office or go online to make an electronic request at searsmont.com.  Telephone requests are accepted from individuals at the Town Office, 342-5411, or family members may complete the request in the office for you.

If you haven’t yet registered to vote, there is still time. Voter registration applications can be completed at the Town Office up until Election Day, and you can register at the polls on Election Day. Proof of ID and residency are required. Voter registrations by mail can be accepted until Oct. 16 at the Town Office; make sure you send a copy of your ID and proof of residency. After Oct. 16, all voter registrations must be completed in person at the Town Office or at the polls.
