Searsport high school cross-country runners toiled in the junior varsity races at the Pendales Invitational on Friday, Oct. 5, an event hosted by Hampden Academy.

In fact, one Viking, Hailey Wood, finished first among the girls jayvee runners.

The girls varsity team scores were: John Bapst of Bangor 43, Hampden Academy 50, Presque Isle 54, Hermon 74 and Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln no score.

The boys varsity team scores were: Hampden Academy 20, Hermon 35, John Bapst 96, Presque Isle 99 and Mattanawcook Academy no score.

The girls junior varsity team scores were: Hampden Academy 15, John Bapst and Searsport no score.

The boys junior varsity team scores were: Hampden Academy 26, Hermon 33, John Bapst and Searsport no score.

Hampden Academy’s Wyatt Lord proved fastest among 31 competitors in the boys varsity competition, as he finished first in 16:28.73.

Dylan Fowler of Hermon bested 37 boys junior varsity runners, as he won the competition in 18:24.71.

The individual Viking boys junior varsity results were: 30, Thomas Bradley, 24:17.77; 31, Andrew Donald, 24:26.25; 36, Caleb Fairbrother, 30:45.82; and 37, William Bradley, 31:18.66.

In the girls varsity competition, Jaymie Sidaway of John Bapst bested the field of 27 competitors in 20:53.40.

Wood outdistanced the girls junior varsity field of 13 runners in 24:47.92.

The individual Vikings girls junior varsity results were: 1, Wood, 24:47.92; and 11, Emma Gaecklein, 30:40.84.
