Tam Snyder, 85, of Monroe, passed on Monday morning, Oct. 8, 2018, at Togus Springs VA Hospice Unit, with his daughter by his side.

Tam was born in the mountains of North Carolina and grew up in Chester County, Pennsylvania, before moving to Maine in the '50s after serving on the front lines in Korea from 1953 to '55. He was a talented carpenter who built and remodeled many homes in Waldo County over his time here (including his own, from the ground up just 10 years ago), but was best-known for his talent and passion for hunting. He loved the woods and was registered as a Master Maine Guide for 50 years, working many years as a black bear guide.

He is predeceased by his daughter Vickie, son Keith, and wife Linda, as well as his parents, John Earl and Venton, and sister, Juanita Johnson of Toughkenomen, Pa. He is survived by his daughters Lisa Snyder-Hendrix of San Antonio, Texas, and Tammy Snyder Maseychik of Northport, Maine, and Keith’s son, Zayne Snyder of Maine and Texas.

A celebration of life will be held at Tam’s home, Sunday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m. Please join family and friends in sharing your favorite hunting story over this opening weekend of deer season. For a full obituary, please go to ripostafh.com.
