The Boston Celtics began their 2018-2019 regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 16, with a fully-healthy squad, after losing Gordon Hayward five minutes into the first game of last season, and, Kyrie Irving, who missed the playoffs due to knee problems.

Recently, the Courier Publications/VillageSoup sports poll asked readers how the Celtics will do this season, and the majority think Boston will make it to the National Basketball Association finals — also known as the championship series — but lose.

Forty-five percent think the Celtics will lose in the finals, while 36 percent think Boston will win the NBA championship. Nine percent think Brad Stevens' club will lose in the Eastern Conference finals, with another nine percent that said Boston will lose in the semifinals.

This week, the sports staff debuts a new poll, and we are back to talking about baseball.

The Red Sox have advanced to their fourth World Series this millennium, and look for their fourth title in that time as well, as Boston faces the Los Angeles Dodgers, which means we are asking readers how they believe the World Series will be decided.

This is the Dodgers second straight World Series appearance, after losing in seven games to the Houston Astros last year, and the Red Sox first appearance since 2013, when Boston won the title.

As with the previous polls that focus on the Red Sox postseason series, there are multiple options to choose, including: Red Sox win in seven games, Red Sox win in six games, Red Sox win in five games, Red Sox win in four games, Dodgers win in seven games, Dodgers win in six games, Dodgers win in five games and Dodgers win in four games.

However, at this point — on Thurday, Oct. 25 — Boston leads the series 2-0 so, for the Dodgers, the options are limited to winning in six or seven games.
