The Belfast Area High School girls junior varsity soccer team gained a wealth of valuable experience in 2018, which could pay dividends down the road as members of their young team move up the ladder to the varsity ranks.

Led by coach Kali Tomlin-McCarthy, the jayvee Lions had just one win and one tie on the season, but learned valuable lessons on the pitch throughout the nine-game campaign.

Team members included Haley Wood, Audrey Lagerbom, Eiyah Jackson, Anna Schortz, Ada Potter, Sierra Moores, Jasmine Cunningham, Alexia Hopkins, Anna Metcalf, Olivia Matthews, Leah Marriner, Adria Barrows, Libby Frazee, Michaela Newton and Lindsey Cross.

Tomlin-McCarthy said the Lions “were so excited to have enough [players] for a jayvee team” and that “eight freshmen joined us this season and they really made an impact at the jayvee and varsity level.”

“The growth in all the players in just one short season was tremendous and we’re very much looking forward to seeing what they can do next year.”

The Lions' individual or team statistics were unavailable.
