Town Office

As much as we hate to admit it, snow season will soon be upon us. The Town Office gets calls requesting the names and phone numbers of snow plow operators available for hire. If you have a snow plow business and would like to be added to our list, please contact the Town Office at 342-5411.

If you have a good snow plow contractor, make sure you treat them well and pay on time. We’ve talked to some who have stopped plowing because of poor payment practices and a lack of consideration by customers.

If you worry about a loved one who wanders, you can register him or her with the Waldo County Wanderer Program to help make a return quicker.

The previous holder of the Boston Post Cane has passed away, and the Town Office is researching to find the oldest town resident so that the Boston Post Cane can be passed along as it was meant to be. If you or a family member are or will be soon be 96 or older, and are a Searsmont resident, please contact the Town Office.

The Town Office is closed Thursday, Nov. 22, for Thanksgiving.

Public Supper

The Searsmont United Methodist Church is hosting a public supper on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the church. Funds are being raised to assist with the restoration of the stained glass windows. It will be a traditional turkey supper with an assortment of pies for dessert. Serving begins at 5 p.m. The cost of the supper is $8 per adult, $4 per child, with a family maximum of $20.

Historical Society to host Rosey Gerry

Rosey Gerry will be speaking at the Searsmont Historical Society's November meeting Thursday, Nov. 15, at 1:30 p.m. in the Historical Room, Searsmont Community Building. Light refreshments to follow with a short business meeting. All are welcome to attend.
