Michael A. Bailey, loving husband and father to two daughters, passed away suddenly Nov. 6, 2018. Mike was born in Augusta on Aug. 16, 1954, to Priscilla Bailey Caret and Frank Herbert Bailey and was raised in Calais.

There are some lives that shouldn’t be summed by a list of events or accomplishments, but better by the connections and people he touched in his many journeys through life. Mike is remembered for his sense of humor, his kindness and love of meeting and learning about new people and ways of living. He was a lifelong educator through the school system and strong advocate for public education. He had strong opinions on things and loved a good debate. MIke was creative and always thinking and dreaming. He loved interacting through games such as croquet, petanque, skiddles, darts or basketball. He lived life to the fullest and was always looking ahead to his next adventure.

Michael is survived by his patient wife, Debra Lopez Bailey; his daughters, Lindsay and Kathryn and her husband Allen Deep; his sister, Patricia Bailey Webber and her husband Michael; and his brother, Robert Bailey.

He was predeceased by his parents Frank Bailey and Priscilla Bailey Caret and his brother Thomas.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Waldo County Shrine Club, 20 Northport Ave. Belfast, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael Bailey Scholarship, c/o Belfast Area High School, 98 Waldo Ave., Belfast, ME 04915.
