From the Town Office

The Town Council hosted its second interview of a candidate for town manager on Nov. 15. A majority of sources say that there is only one candidate in consideration for the job. It is still unknown, however, when a decision will be made and when an offer will be extended.

Waldo County Diaper Closet has placed a box in the Town Office for the donation of of diapers and is asking the public's help with providing these needed items. They are looking for diapers sized from preemie through 6.

As you (hopefully) sit down to a table filled with food this week, I hope that you'll take a moment to reflect upon what Thanksgiving is all about: giving thanks. So often we fail to thank The One "from whom all blessings flow," and I think it's important to remember that Thanksgiving is more than just a segue into the Christmas season.

I'm thankful to live in this great country, for those who have given their lives for my freedom, and for those who continue to fight for that freedom. I'm thankful to have a wonderful family, a son on the way, and a beautiful wife. I'm thankful that she loves me even when I track snow all throughout the house.

I'm thankful to work for the town of Winterport and get to know the many wonderful residents who live in the town. I'm thankful to serve a local church and be able to express my faith to those around me.

Lastly, I'm thankful for you — the readers of my small part of The Republican Journal. I hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving.

Until next week, that's all from the only place on earth that is called "Winterport."
