Donald Lundgren Sr., 75, a resident of Monroe and formerly of Jackson, passed away peacefully Dec. 4, 2018, at EMMC surrounded by family.

He was married to the love of his life, Priscilla, for 55 years.

He was born on April 2, 1943, in Massachusetts, to the late Arthur and Marion Lundgren. He was one of three children.

He was a chicken farmer in Prospect and later moved to Jackson where he worked as a janitor at Morse Memorial Elementary School. He continued to work in maintenance until retirement.

He was a vibrant part of his community. He was a volunteer firefighter in Prospect and Jackson and enjoyed square dancing and church dinners. He was known for his generosity, kindness and devotion to family. He loved gardening, woodworking, feeding the birds and chipmunks, and was an unofficial weatherman.

He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Beadie with husband Brian, and Carol with husband Alvin; beloved children, Donald with wife Ginger and Linda with husband Duane; grandchildren, Diana, Darcy with husband Antonio, Orion with wife Nichole, and Britni with husband Matt; great-grandchildren, Parker, A.J., Gemma, Madison, Xander, Hailee, and Merrick; as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.

A gathering will be held Sunday, Dec. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Duane and Linda Nickerson's home to celebrate his life.
