Penobscot Marine Museum hosted a Victorian Christmas and tree lighting event Dec. 7.

Christmas music was playing in the crescent in front of the museum and the weather could not have been much colder, but it did not matter once the lights came on. Refreshments were available in the Old Vestry and children tried their hands at making their own ornaments.

Faith Garrold was named winner of the gingerbread lighthouse competition with her "Sears Island Ledge" lighthouse. Two others received honorable mention.

Those attending also could tour the 19th-century sea captain’s house, known as The Fowler House, decorated by local businesses with a Victorian Christmas theme.
