The only show in town — at least for Midcoast squads — on the hardwood on Thursday, Dec. 13 featured the Searsport girls basketball team, where the Vikings won their second home game in three tries with a 62-45 decision over Penquis Valley.

The Patriots took an early 12-10 advantage, but the Vikings responded to grab a 26-18 halftime edge and 37-31 advantage after three quarters.

Mikaela Alley led Searsport, who has two wins in three games, with 18 points, while Abby Stemp added 16; Ashten Wells, 12; Makenzie Alley, nine; Sarah Gent and Casey Snow, four; and Morgan Ireland, two.

Megan Valvo keyed Penquis with 14 points, while Sydney Fowles added 10; Camryn Rolfe, nine; Katelyn Bolstridge, five; Lexi Goddard, three; and Lauren Bolstridge and Kylee Trafton, two.

The Vikings were 9-of-16 (56 percent) from the foul line, while the Patriots were 2-of-7 (29 percent).

Searsport connected on six 3-pointers — three from Stemp and Mikaela Alley — while the Patriots netted seven, three from Rolfe and Valvo and one from Goodard.
