The Searsport girls basketball team continued its hot start to the season on Wednesday, Dec. 19 as the Vikings hosted Piscataquis Community of Guilford, and the Vikings picked up their third high school court win in four tries with a 41-23 decision.

The squads were tied 4-4 after the first quarter, while the Vikings went on a 16-5 run to take a 20-9 lead at halftime. The hosts then grabbed a 30-15 advantage after three quarters.

Sisters Mikaela Alley and Makenzie Alley scored 10 points in the win for Searsport, while Abby Astbury and Ashten Wells added six; Casey Snow and Morgan Ireland, four; and Abby Stemp, one.

Liz Kendall led PCHS with 13 points, while Meagan Lemieux added five; Olivia Riitano, three; and Hope Adkins, two.

The Vikings were 3-of-11 (27 percent) from the foul line, while the Pirates were 4-of-8 (50 percent).

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class C North, Searsport (3-1, 4.9383 points) is seventh, while Dexter (4-0, 8.7654 points) is first in the 20-team region. The top 14 teams qualify for the playoffs.
