A seventh- and eighth-grade boys travel basketball team, made up of many players from area counties and towns, went on the road and represented the Midcoast with hard-nosed play on the hardwood, as the squad returned with the XL Sports World Turkey Trot Championship on Saturday, Nov. 17.

The team, called Midcoast Elite and coached by Travis Doughty and Brad Galley, received a bye and went 2-0 in the tournament, as it victories over Lyman Moore and Gray-New Gloucester to net the tournament title.

Team members include Aaron Reed, Cohen Galley, Larry Robbins, Landyn Benner, Quincy Messer, Carter Galley, Ben Tripp, Kory Donlin and Noah Hurd.

After receiving a bye, Midcoast Elite earned a 68-38 victory over Lyman Moore and were led by Carter Galley (17 points), Cohen Galley (12 points), Benner (11 points), Messer (6 points), Hurd (6 points), Robbins (6 points), Reed (6 points) and Tripp (4 points).

In the finals against Gray-New Gloucester, Midcoast Elite netted a 71-48 win and were led by Messer (16 points), Cohen Galley (15 points), Benner (12 points) and Carter Galley (12 points).
