Jayne L. Kapala (McKinnon) of Tewksbury, Mass., passed away peacefully at her home, after a long illness, Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019.

Born Sept. 20, 1945, in Belfast, Jayne was the daughter of the late Daniel and Alice (Malcolm) McKinnon. Jayne was raised and educated in Maine, graduating from Crosby High School in 1964, where she excelled as a stenographer and typist. Jayne spent her teen years working at the Belfast Colonial Theatre, where she developed a life-long love of movies.

Jayne left Maine and moved to Lowell, Mass., where she met her husband (the late) Frank Kapala. They eventually settled in Tewksbury where Jayne resided for 48 years.

Jayne was a master wordsmith who loved crossword puzzles and was quick with a smart pun or funny twist of words. She loved music and attending rock concerts — Pink Floyd was her favorite. Professionally, Jayne spent the final 18 years of her career as a senior software QA engineer at Hewlett Packard.

Jayne is survived by her children Lisa of Tewksbury, Mass., Carol and husband Steve DeSisto of Littleton, Mass., David of Lowell, Mass., Kathy of Billerica, Mass., and Diana Foster of Tewksbury, Mass,; and her grandchildren Courtney, Sophia, Tony, Nicholas, Olivia and Sabrina. Jayne was sister to Mary Guilbeault of Dracut, Mass., Irene Miles of Fitchburg, Mass., the late Daniel McKinnon of Maine, Myron McKinnon of California and Charles McKinnon of Ohio.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Route 62), Wilmington, Mass., on Friday, Jan. 11 for visitation from 4 to 7:30 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at 7:30 p.m.
