The results from the latest Courier Publications/VillageSoup sports poll produced "shocking" results: the majority of voters — perhaps with the expected geographical basis in the mix — believe the New England Patriots will win the Super Bowl.

The Patriots received 58 percent of the vote, while 21 percent think the New Orleans Saints will be victorious at the close of the National Football League season. Five percent believe/believed the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers or Chicago Bears will/would win the Super Bowl.

No votes were cast for the Los Angeles Rams, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles, in a poll before the playoffs began.

As of this post, only the Patriots, Rams, Saints and Chiefs were left standing in the postseason.

With only four teams remaining in the NFL playoffs, the sports staff asks the same question as the previous poll: Which remaining NFL team do you think will win the Super Bowl?

Voting will run through Sunday, Jan. 20, with the AFC and NFL Championship games being played to decide which two teams will meet in the Super Bowl on Feb. 3 in Atlanta, Ga.
