Lite Lunch at the Searsmont Town Library

The Searsmont Historical Society and the Searsmont Town Library are teaming up to offer lite lunch for seniors at the library on the last Friday of each month.

The first luncheon will be on Friday, Jan. 25, at 12:15 p.m. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the luncheon will be held the next day, Saturday the 26th, at the same time. We’ll be serving something warm from the crockpot (soup or stew) along with sandwiches, biscuits, fruit and cookies.

Lunch will be served in the upstairs lobby of the Searsmont Community Center, and coffee will be served in the library following lunch with music, games, puzzles and good conversation. The event is free, and all are welcome to attend.

Please RSVP to me by calling 342-2538, and leave a message so that we have an idea of how many people plan to attend. Also, if you need transportation to and from the library, let us know and we will do our best to arrange transport.

This seems like a pleasant way to spend a winter afternoon. Hope to see you there.

Town Office

Bring an extra $25 per dog to pay the late fee if you come to register your dog after Jan. 31. These fees are mandated by state law and cannot be waived.

The selectmen are working on the budget in preparation for the town meeting. The department head meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Town Office. The town budget meeting, where the selectmen present the proposed budget to the residents, is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. in the Searsmont Community Building meeting room.

Jan. 31 is also the end of the town’s fiscal year, and the names of those with unpaid taxes as of that date will be printed in the Town Report. Check with the Town Office if you need more information on your account balance.
