The Searsport boys basketball team, currently on the outside looking in on the Class C North playoff picture, will have a tough road ahead in its hopes to earn a berth in the postseason.

The Vikings squared off at home with Central of East Corinth on Tuesday, Jan. 22 as the Red Devils emerged with a 65-41 win.

Central led 10-4 after the first quarter, 27-13 at halftime and 48-25 after three quarters.

Josh Wright led Searsport with 12 points, while Charlie Spiegel added nine; Dustin Hall, six; Colby Snow, five; George Dakin, four; Toby Kroening, three; and Gabe Kneeland, two.

James Doucette poured in 31 points to pace Central, while Jeffrey Macomber added eight; Alex Hewett, seven; Scotty Ferrie, six; Royce Burns, five; Dylan Ham, four; and Tyler Collins, three.

The Vikings were 9-of-12 (75 percent) from the foul line, while the Red Devils were 2-of-4 (50 percent).

Searsport will play its final home game of the regular season Saturday, Jan. 26 against Piscataquis Community of Guilford before ending the regular season on a four-game road trip against Sumer of East Sullivan, Bucksport, Central and Deer Isle-Stonington.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class C North, Searsport (6-7, 14.5988 points) is 16th, while Central Aroostook of Mars Hill (13-1, 86.3798 points) is first in the 20-team region. The top 14 teams qualify for the playoffs.
