Freedom Community Historical Society will be holding their 4th annual "Winterfest."   Please make every attempt to attend and participate in the planning and helping with this great community event Saturday, Feb.  2.

Activities will begin at the Springvale Farm, located across the street from the Town Office, at 11 a.m. Warming up available; food, snacks and hot drinks can be purchased at Town Office, compliments of the Freedom Rec. Committee.

Community Potluck at the Grange Hall beginning at 4:30 p.m. (all donations will be greatly appreciated), followed by the famous Freedom Follies at 6 p.m.  The cost is $7.50 per person and $20 for a family.

All events will be held on the property of Springvale Farm. As a special treat, there will be an Ice Harvesting Demonstration starting at 3 p.m.

Please invite others in the community outside FCHS to come and participate. We want it to be a real community event. The will be ice skates available for use in the Town Office if you want to ice skate but don’t own skates.

Groundhog Day

Saturday, Feb. 2, is Groundhog Day. As the story goes, if the groundhog sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter. This particular groundhog lives in Pennsylvania.

The selectmen will hold their meeting on Monday, Feb. 4, starting at 6 p.m. Their meetings are open to the public.

The Road Committee will meet at the Town Office on Wednesday, Feb. 6, starting at 7 p.m.

Dirigo Grange 98 will meet at the Grange on Thursday, Feb. 7, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Voice of Freedom

All I have to say this week, is that it is COLD! I hope everyone is keeping warm. If you know of anyone that lives alone, give them a call or stop in for a quick visit just to see that they are OK.

In the meantime, stay warm, stay safe and be kind to your neighbor. God bless until next week.
