Hello All,

On this cold winter day. We survived the rains, snow, and ice so far. What a mess the rain made in many places, flooding, washouts along the roads, and ice everywhere. We're still standing. so that is a good thing.

More snow and cold is following. Hang tight, think Spring, I do.

Sympathy

Our sympathy to my daughter-in-law Laura, and Wayne and grandchildren Cody, Sara, Katie and David Doughty on the loss of their gram and great-gram, Marilyn H. Lohnes of Waterville. Thinking of her daughter Louise Proulx and family also at this time. We will miss Gram, and all the fun times. She passed Jan. 22 at 90 years young.

Frederick Robie Jr. of Orono passed away Jan. 18. He was the uncle of my good friend Rosalind Brann (her mother's brother). Sympathy to all of his family.

Getting better

Little Chance Cunningham, son of Jeremy and Lacey Cunningham, is in Boston and has had his transplant cells for his health problem. This included the chemo he has had. If anyone wishes to mail him a card, his address is, Chance Cunningham, 300 Longwood Ave., Room 605, Boston Children’s Hospital 3081, Boston, MA 02115. He is just a little feller. Prayers for him to be better very soon.

Held at the Beem Farm, 151 Oxbow Road, Palmyra. Registration starts at 9 a.m. (11 classes). Email to participate to the club secretary, Paula Leavitt, at dleavitt@uninets.net. This sounds like fun though I don't have a clue what it entails. Horse activities is all I can figure out. Weather permitting for this event, of course. Food and drink await in the heated garage. Hope to have some horse teams there available for rides for the public. Old-fashioned winter fun.

Chicken Barbecue

Sickness

Along with the usual strep throat, I hear there are cases of whooping cough. Beware.

Our Auxiliary friend Marian Merrill is in the hospital in Portland at this time. I hope she is well soon.

Our get well wishes go out to Linda and Jerry Parker to feel better very soon. Thinking of them both at this time.

Our get well wishes also going out to Bobby Ferriera as he recuperates in Boston at this time. Hope he is well very soon and back to Maine.

New Maine Veterans Home

A big new nursing home for the MVH in Augusta is in the works, for long-term care. The $90 million place will be across the Old Belgrade Road near the Maine General Alfond Center Health Care building and will have 138 beds. Breaking ground next month, with the formal groundbreaking April 18. This is much needed to replace the oldest veterans’ home.

News article I read

Looking for Info

Is there anyone out there who would know a Grace Black, born 1937, went to Freedom Academy, married a Merrithew, she is deceased? Please contact me with any info.

Until next week,

I hope all are staying warm. I have not strayed far from home as I am most comfortable inside. I will accept a phone call, though. I laughed when I saw Donald Trump's name come up on my caller ID. For real ― I wonder how could I have helped him out. Haha.

Stay safe, and beware the ice that is still plaguing us all the time.
