What a crazy and awesome football game last Sunday between the Patriots and the Chiefs! I am not easily drawn in to viewing sports on TV, and initially was doing several things while "keeping an ear out" for loud crowd noises, but had to sit down after the first quarter.

How old is Patrick Mahomes, anyway? He looks like he just graduated from high school! After Googling his name, I learned he is 23 and found myself routing for the young underdog. We all know by now they did not succeed, but one could not have asked for a more exciting game.

Flooding at Walker Elementary School

Flooding occurred at Walker Elementary School on Thursday, Jan. 24, as a result of heavy rains that fell that day. According to Superintendent Paul Austin, "The water was primarily located outside of the school, as a drain outside had frozen. We had minor issues with water coming in the back entrance that was managed immediately by our facilities crew. The water (outside) is draining now, but we will continue to monitor and improve the drainage in the coming days. There was no damage to the building."

Bakery addition to Peavey's Store

Just to clarify some confusion, in addition to Peavey's store, there will be a separate area with a bakery, "J.A. Bakery," under the same roof, being remodeled as we speak and hopefully will be ready by spring.

Jeremy A. Butler will have many new items to offer, including cakes for all occasions, breads and pastries. He will also be making rolls for Peavey's sandwiches and hopefully in time, the pizza dough.

Liberty Ambulance Service

Do you have a loved one, or yourself living alone and would like to have a well-being check done? Liberty Ambulance would be more than happy to come out to your residence. You will not get billed for a well-being or assessment check, unless transported.

They would be happy to come and take basic vital signs, or just check on a family member for you between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. If on a 911 call, they will stop by afterward. Call their non-emergency number at 589-4446 to have them come out. If you need the ambulance in an emergency, call 911.

Liberty thefts

This posted from Tammy Reynolds on Jan. 12: "Time to lock stuff up again, a snowmobile and four-wheeler we're stolen last night on the Prescott Hill (at the town line) with Collinstown Road in Liberty."
