The high school wrestling regular season has concluded, and Belfast went out with momentum on its side on Saturday, Jan. 26, with the postseason on-deck.

The Lions grabbed four dual-match victories, as they bested Ellsworth 42-42, by criteria, Lincoln Academy of Newcastle 66-12, Morse of Bath 48-34 and Penobscot Valley of Howland 60-12.

Belfast will compete in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Championships on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 9:30 a.m. at Cony High School in Augusta to kick off the postseason schedule.

The individual Belfast results, with Lion wrestlers listed first, were:

106 pounds — Connor Fournier won by forfeit over Ellsworth, Lincoln Academy and Penobscot Valley; and pinned Chase Nicolino, Mor.

113 pounds — Gabe Bruns won by forfeit over Ellsworth, Lincoln Academy and Morse; and lost by forfeit to Storm Goodwin, PV.

126 pounds — Timothy Smith won by forfeit over Ellsworth; and pinned Codi Fanning, PV.

132 pounds — Timothy Smith pinned Jiles Morton, LA; and was pinned by Connor McNish, Mor.

138 pounds — Jonah Lovejoy pinned Everett Huckins, Ells; pinned Corbin Drake, LA; pinned Cole Avery, Mor; and won by forfeit over Penobscot Valley.

145 pounds — Chris Fournier was pinned by Logan Lord, Ells; lost by major decision to Ben Brewer, Mor; and won by forfeit over Penobscot Valley.
