Lite Lunch at the Library

The Searsmont Historical Society and the Searsmont Town Library are teaming up to offer Lite Lunch for Seniors at the library on the last Friday of each month. The luncheons are free, and all are welcome to attend.

Our next luncheon will be on Friday, Feb. 22, at 12:15 p.m. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the luncheon will be held the next day, Saturday the 23rd, at the same time.

We’ll be serving haddock chowder, pasta salad, biscuits, and fruit and cookies. Lunch will be served in the upstairs lobby of the Searsmont Community Center, and coffee will be served in the library following lunch with music, games, puzzles and good conversation.

Please RSVP by calling 342-2538, and leave me a message so that we have an idea of how many people plan to attend. Also, if you need transportation to and from the library, let us know and we will do our best to arrange transport.

This seems like a pleasant way to spend a winter afternoon. Hope to see you there.

Town Library

On the evening of Friday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m., we are very grateful to have Dr. David Loxterkamp come and speak to us about "The Opioid Crisis in Maine." Dr. Loxterkamp will share stories and information, and answer questions about this serious social and health issue.

On Saturday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m., Leslie Thomas will lead the first outing of the Young Naturalists Club in an excursion focusing on "Winter Birds in Maine" — but you never know what you'll see! Dress warmly, and bring binoculars if you have them. We ask that young people under the age of 12 be accompanied by an adult. All events are free to the public.

And remember you can join with friends every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. for Board Game Night!
