Stockton Springs Community Library

On Sunday, March 10, at 2 p.m., the library will be hosting an author talk by Jeff Shula, author of "Fireside Chats." Jeff Shula and Peggy McKenna, who is deceased, worked for the Waldo Independent newspaper and interviewed older county residents. The book contains Shula's stories and McKenna's photos. The book was published with the support of a grant from the William and Emily Muir Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.

The weather in Stockton Springs continues to be cold and snowy. Everyone is waiting for the tiniest sign of spring with March coming soon.

At this point in the year I am thinking of what I planted in last year's garden and what I want to plant this year. The lettuce can be started very early, but May and June bring the real planting. I still have green and wax beans in my freezer to eat from last year's garden.

If there is a sunny day, think about getting out for some sunshine and fresh air.
